Our favourite season alongside spring: warm days cool into crisp evenings, the summer crowds thin out, and the sea stays warm enough for a late swim from the coastal districts nearby. Golden-hour light on the Bosphorus in October is hard to beat.

Winter (December-February)

Mild rather than cold by European standards, typically 5-12°C (41-54°F), with grey skies and rain more common than snow. This is Kuzguncuk at its most local and least touristed — steamy café windows, quiet lanes, and the timber houses looking especially atmospheric against overcast skies.

Whatever the season, early morning and the hour before sunset are the sweet spots: the shore walk is at its quietest, the light is softest on the water, and the ferries crossing to the European side catch the colour beautifully. Weekday mornings beat weekend afternoons for calm, café-lined streets.
