This guide covers every practical route in: from both of Istanbul's airports, from the historic peninsula and Taksim, and the short walk from the Üsküdar ferry terminal to our door.

From Istanbul's airports

From Istanbul Airport (IST)

IST is the larger, newer airport on the European side, and the furthest from Kuzguncuk — about 55 minutes by car depending on traffic. A pre-booked airport transfer or taxi straight to the door is the simplest option. Budget travellers can take the HAVAIST bus to Taksim, then a taxi or the Beşiktaş ferry across to Üsküdar, though this adds time with luggage.

From Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW)

SAW is on the Asian side and considerably closer — about 35 minutes by taxi or transfer, often the quickest and least stressful way to arrive. The HAVABÜS shuttle also runs from SAW to Kadıköy, from where a taxi or the coastal bus reaches Kuzguncuk in a further 20-25 minutes.

From central Istanbul

By ferry (our favourite way)

Take any Bosphorus ferry bound for Üsküdar — services run regularly from Eminönü, Beşiktaş and Kabataş, taking 15-25 minutes depending on the departure point. From the Üsküdar ferry terminal, it is a flat, scenic 15-minute walk north along the shore to the hotel, or a two-minute taxi. Arriving by sea is, in our biased opinion, the best possible introduction to the neighbourhood.

By metro

The Üsküdar M5 line connects to the wider metro network on both sides of the city. From Üsküdar station, a taxi or dolmuş (shared minibus) covers the remaining distance to Kuzguncuk in about 10 minutes.

By taxi or ride-hailing app

Yellow taxis and the BiTaksi app are widely available; Uber also operates in Istanbul and works well for a fixed, upfront estimate. From Taksim expect about 20 minutes; from Sultanahmet, 25-30 minutes depending on bridge traffic.

Walking from the Üsküdar ferry terminal

Leave the terminal and follow the coastal road north, keeping the Bosphorus on your right. The route hugs the shore the whole way — past fishing spots and tea gardens — and takes about 15 unhurried minutes before Kuzguncuk's painted timber houses come into view.
